The REL S/850 combines a larger 305 mm CarbonAlloy active driver with a matching passive radiator and an 850-watt Linear Class D amplifier. Compared with the S/550, the increased driver size and power provide additional headroom for larger loudspeakers and more demanding listening rooms.

Its connection panel includes high-level, stereo RCA, RCA LFE and balanced XLR LFE inputs, with outputs for multi-subwoofer systems. Airship Direct wireless operation is available as an option. The cabinet is finished in black or white lacquer and includes a cloth grille; the premium wood grille is available separately.
